Cuban Democracy Act (Torricelli Act)

Codified the embargo as statutory policy. The Act directed the President to maintain the embargo, imposed sanctions on countries assisting Cuba, prohibited U.S. subsidiaries in third countries from trading with Cuba, and restricted shipping: vessels that called on Cuban ports were barred from U.S. ports for 180 days.
